A few weekends back, Adam and I took a trip up to Murphys to take part in a very special weekend: Adam’s Aunt Jean’s (and Uncle Dean’s) wedding reception.
Jean and her husband (congrats!!!!) rented out The Cottages to celebrate with their closest friends and family members. It is such a beautiful little compound hidden by the lush surroundings of the central valley’s foothills.
When we arrived on Friday after a long drive we were somewhat overwhelmed. We got lost which made our drive about a half hour longer than we had anticipated. To add to the frustration we had all consumed a little too much caffeine for so late in the day so we were antsy and in need of a bathroom. And I was wearing sandals. The one time I pack light and only bring the pair of shoes I was wearing it rains… go figure. After touring the grounds (and finding a bathroom) all was well. We mingled with friends and family and enjoyed being with the happy couple for such a joyous occasion.
On Saturday morning I was convinced the heavens opened up and the sun came out just for them. It couldn’t have been anymore gorgeous. The setup was amazing; it doesn’t get any better than a cocktail hour beside the stream that wound its way through the property. The white chairs and the Tiffany blue table linens complimented the greens of the landscape, which made for the most perfect and ideal reception venue.
The food was amazing. Lila and Sage, the local catering company they chose did such a wonderful job. I was blown away with the rustic simplicity of the setup and how fitting the appetizer and lunch menus were for the setting.
To Jean and Dean,
Thank you for inviting us to take part in your special day. It couldn’t have been a more perfect event. We both wish you the best in love and in life, and with that said, I will leave you with the best way to describe what you two have found in each other.
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. 1 Corinthians 13

And if you ever find yourself in Murphys to check out the cutest downtown/Main Street ever or to go wine tasting at one of the MANY wineries see if you can stay at The Cottages. You won’t regret it.
