4 years…

me and adam have been together for 4 years.

and to help you get to know us as a couple and the kind of love we share, i’ve compiled some of our “firsts” from the past 4 years.

awww our first public outing as a couple… halloween 2007!!! i looked like a 12 year old (i was Pippi) and adam (Tom Cruise from Ricsky Business) wasn’t wearing pants. that’s just how we roll. (it also sparked our “we should totally have a to catch a predator themed halloween costume” idea)

our first Almond Blossom. trust me its huge in Adam’s hometown. i didn’t see any almonds or blossoms…

our first fancy outing- bar crawling in cocktail attire.

our first travel experience as a couple… new country (mexico), new silly faces…

our first golf outing. aren’t we sporty!

our first stupid photo shoot on the couch…

our first 4th of july celebration! go ‘merica!

our first concert together…

our first graduation!!

our first experience with adam buying a house/his birthday!

our first puppy…

our first home scare…remember the bubble?

our first wedding invitation/wedding…

our first 5k…

here’s to 4 more years of ridiculous firsts.

back in action

well i am BACK IN ACTION!!!

last week i was totally out of commission. all i did was lay on the couch with sierra. whenever i got up i would feel so weak and worn down… it was awful.

we did a lot of this…

started reading this..

i finally started feeling better and then adam started getting sick..

so i think ill run out and Lysol the whole house and get rid of this whole sick business.

how bizarre

i dont know if it was me or if it’s just the valley crazies but this past saturday was bizarre.

it started out bad- woke up totally stuffed up and feeling like a zombie. but i was on a mission to go to the farmers market. this past weekend was the first weekend being home in a very long time and i wanted some bacon on a stick.

i also discovered a new fruit.. bitter melon!

and got to experience Occupy Modesto! (all two of them)

after we went for a stroll through the market adam went to go buy a new video game. being the awesome girlfriend that i am, i let adam have his video game time while i went out to find a new pair of jeans and maybe look out for a halloween costume.

before i started feeling totally run down i had spotted a costume outfit.

then i heard “excuse me” so i looked up.

“can you tell me where your men’s section is?.. if you have a men’s section….”

without thinking, i directed the two guys to the men’s section. then i looked at what i was wearing..

obviously minus the coffee and baguette but still had my new chico state hat on (Go Wildcats!)

maybe i looked like i worked at forever 21…? i didnt think so but laughed it off.

as i headed to the fitting room it happened again!

a little old lady asked me which direction the mall was in.

really?!?

and as if that wasnt weird enough flash forward 4 hours to the grocery run where we encountered this guy.

he asked if if we wanted to buy a snake. like you know an anaconda. and that if that wasn’t what we wanted he has 30 different types of reptiles at his house AND had a ball python in his car we could check out.

typical chico sunday

so sunday morning we woke up bright and early and in search of champagne!

and because last chico weekend we went to adam’s choice for breakfast, i made him take me to my favorite little breakfast joint (and we convinced a good friend of ours to come too!! we both miss him lots).

i had what i’ve been ordering for years and years- Oui Breakfast (and a small french press and champagne. go big or go home)

and adam and our friend had this breakfast bowl bonanaza!! i have no idea what its called but it has rice and beans and bacon and avocado and its all topped with an egg!! makes you melt in your seat delicious.

and then adam was so kind as to take me on a stroll downtown. i wanted to go to lulu’s and trucker but they were closed!!! so i ended up hanging my head the whole drive home. but look!! i dressed to impress!! (i’ve really been trying these days) (geez my hair is long)

and then we got home and our sunday ended with watching our favorite football team dominate and had a coffee table lunch/dinner…

post race shenanigans!

after our race (that we did AWESOME on) (and obviously post-race refueling and showering) we hit the road!!!

let me tell you- don’t run a race then get in the car and drive for 2 hours (it does nothing for your muscles).

but! the combo of the race and the drive sure makes you work up an appetite. so we headed to our favorite bar/burger joint. THE BEAR!! so we waited in line line, adam grabbed beers while i ordered and we actually found a great spot to sit! so while we were waiting we had plenty of time to sit and goof off.

here is adam making fun of my middle name…

here is me and my ridiculously long hair…

oh look its the bear in all its ridiculous glory!

and then…. the best curly fries ever!!!

and because i’m completely nuts and wanted a new chico sweatshirt every time we go to chico we headed towards campus.

and then i had to pose with these new pillars they put up…

and after all that jazz and adam calling me a tourist and not finding a cute sweatshirt i found this!!!!

so since we were right on time to check into our hotel we left downtown and went to go check-in. funny story here. so we bought our tickets to this particular weekend shenanigan the day they went on sale- September 1st. we booked our hotel maybe 3 days later through hotels.com. the weekend before our trip up to chico adam got an email saying we no longer had a room at the hotel we booked (which is the cheapest hotel you can find and its right downtown). so after about an hour of being on the phone and being hung up on the hotel attendant told adam he found us a hotel! well good thing about the hotel- it was about a mile away from the shenanigan. bad thing- it was in a sketchy area and about 4 miles from downtown. well, we took it because a sketchy hotel is better than no hotel. and turns out it wasn’t too bad of a room it was just ridiculously far from downtown. turns out everyone and their mom (literally) was in town for chico experience week- the huge student/alumni/family fun week where they keep the bookstore open on weekends and you can take tours of the whole place and cause major back-up at the bear when people just want to eat some food.

so… now we come to the good part! the shenanigans!!!

yeah… it was here….

OKTOBERFEST!!!!!!!

my artsy fartsy stein picture…

and since chico is known for its SPECATACULAR glass blowing…. they had demonstrations!!

ok… so the most fun thing about oktoberfest was you could send official oktoberfest postcards to all your loved ones that couldn’t make it out to chico.

the big beer truck!!

adam let me get pretzels after i begged all day… and then he said how delicious they were… (i won that battle!!)

oh! theres a pig on the condiment table!

then there was dinner… brat, pork, beef, potatoes, sauerkraut, and salad. to die for!! sierra nevada has the BEST food. and beer.

happy bellies full of beers and brats equal happy smiling faces!!

the tent was AMAZING!

and then the bands that were playing into the wee hours of oktoberfest!!! every song was the chicken dance. i kid you not. ive never chicken danced harder in my life.

happy oktoberfest!!!! i’m making this an annual thing.

the chew

since the recent job change i’ve been home more. i’ll clean around the house, throw some laundry in while i cook, and put the tv on for background noise. as you’ve probably heard we are going on almost 6 months without cable and we now only have the big 4 channels (you know, the acronyms). the past couple of days i’ve tuned in for some episodes of The Chew.

from the amount of time i have seen of The Chew, i gather that it is a cooking show (but not really) that features 3 chefs, Clinton Kelly (the stylist) and Blondy Buzzkill (Daphne). they talk about food and have fun guests and play games.

according to their site

The Chew celebrates and explores life through food, with a group of dynamic, engaging, fun, relatable co-hosts who serve up everything to do with food — from cooking and home entertaining to food trends, restaurants, holidays and more — all aimed at making life better, fuller and more fun.

they have cool cooking spots like the one where chef michael symon makes a bacon, banana, and nutella sandwich. it was an ooey gooey midnight snack that each host then tried and agreed it was an awesome special treat. then Blondy Buzzkill asked if it was on whole wheat bread and promptly got heckled by the other hosts. then she goes on to mention the trifecta of sugar, fat, and salt being as addicting as a controlled substance.

uhhh WHAT?!

who hired this girl?! not to mention whenever they hand everyone a sample bite she never eats. she sits there oddly and smiles and nods as everyone tears into their bit of warm deliciousness.

as a fellow fat girl daphne, i suggest you quit raining on everyones parade and start hitting the gym. yes your apple pie yogurt with crumble looks wonderful but it still makes me crave a slice of warm apple pie a la mode.

not only is she showing people that you shouldn’t have sweet treats, but she’s showing people you should just skip out on eating, even just a tiny bite. so really daphne please just act like a normal person because your attitude is dragging the show down.

setting the bar high

last saturday adam and i ran a local 5k. we decided we would shoot for a 5k time of 30 minutes. we did have plans for later that day and 30 minutes seemed like a doable time for both of us.

we took a little pre-race picture.

they posted our pictures online too!

yeah.. i know. gorgeous. (i am one ugly runner)
